FPT 220 - Fire Officer I
3.5 Credits
This course introduces the knowledge and skills necessary to function at the Fire Officer 1 level as defined in NFPA 1021. Areas covered include company operations at emergency incidents, basic supervision and leadership, transition to the role of supervisor, and other aspects of fire department operations and interpersonal skills.
Prerequisite: FPT 111 or equivalent
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate the basic principles of management, supervision, and transactional leadership at a company officer level.
2. Summarize the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to be successful as a fire company officer.
3. Implement a structured approach to managing emergency incidents, operations, and training at the fire company level based on generally accepted management and supervision principles.
